NBC Does It Again

NBC has massively upped the ante in the vaccine game tonight. I almost stroked out as I watched the crap that was being heaped upon the (dwindling) viewing audience. There is a good reason no one watches NBC anymore, and this is part of it.

Several years ago ER aired an episode where a child dies from...are you ready?...measles. [Notice the trend yet?] The premise of the episode was ridiculous, but that didn't once sway the writers from their main premise, the mother of the child was to blame for refusing to vaccinate. Every character on the show took a turn completely degrading the mother and then wondering in an exasperated fashion, "hasn't measles already been wiped out by the vaccine?"

"Oh not for the spectacularly stupid, evil parents who don't vaccinate their children."

While watching that episode, two main thoughts entered my mind: this is perfect execution of a propaganda scheme that would make Hitler's henchmen proud, and secondly I've never noticed how many pharmaceuticals advertise on ER. Interesting. I wonder if they are connected?

There was quite a clamoring in the natural health and health freedom communities, but eventually (after eight or nine years), that uproar has died down. That's okay, there's always another opportunity for NBC to persuade the pharmaceutical companies to keep advertising (since it sure won't be for the ratings!)

If you missed tonight's episode here it is in a nutshell: a crazy-bad, young mother (with her own mother who is quite a gem) is accused of killing her daughter. Turns out she only buried an already-dead daughter who died from complications of...measles! [ta da!] As it turns out the child caught measles at the park from the unvaccinated child of an evil, misanthropic mother. Well since it is an election year the DA has decided to prosecute the mother for murder [OMG!]


In extraordinary (actually totally ordinary) L&O style, the viewer is incessantly shown in a painfully obvious manner which person is wrong/evil. Of course that person is not the woman who buried her dead child that she thought she killed with an aggressive spanking. No that person is the mother who didn't stop to think that this child, being raised by an absurdly unfit family, might catch measles from her son and die! (plus all this time her poor child is locked in his room kicking and screaming and begging for his vaccine!) So we know that despite the fact that the mother is found not guilty (completely dumbfounding the entire cast), she is really evil.

Anyone who has ever watched Law and Order knows how formulaic each episode is, but they are also slightly intoxicating. It becomes very easy to shut off your critical thinking while watching the drivel, and let all the flotsam pour into your subconscious. (This is generally true of any television, but most dangerous when the TV shows shove their morality down your throat.)

Of course now those who will respond to this offensive will be treated as extremists for defending the most basic liberty of choosing what health care their family recieves. I know that the mainstream media places no value on personal freedom or liberty, it is a shame that this mindset has spread to the crap that passes for TV shows as well.

Shame on NBC, brilliant move by big-pharma. If this is how you want to play...bring it on. Common sense is the solution.
